Ceramic ReviewIssue 205 January/February 2004-02-12 Carolinda Tolstoy Ceramics This handsomely produced monograph on the lustre decorated ceramics of Carolinda Tolstoy, celebrates in full and lavish colour both the richness and exoticism of her bowls, lidded pots, jars and her bowls, but also the splendour of her clothes, which she describes as a 'living glaze'. Drawing heavily on traditional Middle Eastern forms, with their minaret tops and rounded full bellies, Tolstoy decorates her pieces with underglaze colour and gold lustre. Vibrant and colourful, this monograph does full credit to Tolstoy's energetic ceramics.
