Oh yes our little countess!

It is the famous Tolstoy expression, which was addressed to Natasha Rostova. We would like to re-address it to someone with the same family name as the great writer, to be more precise, the wife of Count Andrei Tolstoy.

Many Londoners know this couple as they patronise The Bolshoi Theatre, organise the charity ball ‘War and Peace’ and collect funds for the Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Chiswick, London.

Carolinda is also an artist who makes faïence ceramics. Her works are executed with the use of designs from very different world cultures. Her art is international but each piece is imprinted with her flaming, amusing nature, tireless searching and incredible capacity to work.

The works of Tolstoy are exhibited in many galleries. She also donates her works to many sales and auctions. At the last ‘War and Peace Ball’ a ‘Persian Dream’ vessel was sold to a collector who valued it at a far higher price than expected.

Recently at her bi-annual ‘Studio Exhibition’, she continued with the series of Persian designs but she also addressed the work to a Russian theme ‘Cupolas in the Sky’. The exhibition was attended by the whole of London Society and we noticed that the famous art director of the museum/gallery ‘New Hermitage’, Mr. Valery Dudukov was present.

The works of Carolinda Tolstoy will be shown not only in London, Paris, Istanbul and New York but also we hope in Russia.
